Presented by Ana Gomez:

Melbourne 11th May, 2018- Recovering from the trauma of family violence: An EMDR attachment-focussed model for parents and children.

In Australia, one in four children are exposed to family violence, and its effects are well documented.  The ground-breaking report of the Victorian Royal Commission into Family Violence reaffirmed the importance of helping children recover from the family violence, and the urgent need for effective models of intervention that ensure recovery and prevent trauma over generations.

This workshop incorporates an attachment and trauma framework that assists in understanding complex issues after family violence, including attachment to the perpetrator.  It introduces a model of EMDR therapy that heals the trauma of family violence for parents and children, and strengthens their attachment bond.  The role of EMDR with perpetrators of violence will also be discussed.
